Kamau Mwangi (1937–2005), Guka, taught at the primary school on the ridge for thirty years, owned the first radio for miles, and read the newspaper aloud to anyone who would listen.

He married Wanjiru in 1960. Seven children; he walked every one of them to their first day of school.
