Nguyễn Văn Tuấn (1934–2011), Ông Nội, taught mathematics in Saigon for twenty years and worked nights in a machine shop in Houston for fifteen, and never once complained about either in front of the children.

Family
He married Hoa in 1958 and came over first, in 1979, with the two oldest. The cassette tapes were his idea.
