The drum Papa played at every child's naming ceremony in the family, and what he said a child needed before it had a name.

The story
“On the eighth day the family gathers and the child is given its names. Before anyone spoke, Papa played. He said a child is not named until the drum has heard it — so the drum would know them, wherever they went.”
How it came down to us
Adaeze tells it at every naming now, and plays the drum herself. Her son Tobenna wrote it down in 2020.
