Two storeys, mint green, with the coffee shop below and the family above, from 1958 until Ah Kong sold it in 1994 and the family moved out two years later. The pink one next door belonged to a tailor who never once let anyone forget the colour was his idea first.

What it was like
The five-foot way was the coffee shop's front room. Tables went out at six, the shutters upstairs opened at seven, and the tiles along the front — blue, gold, rust — were scrubbed every Sunday by whichever grandchild had misbehaved that week.

Who lived there
Ah Kong and Ah Ma, from 1958
All three children, until they married
Ah Ma's younger sister, for the six years she was saving for a flat
Eleven people at the most, during the 1988 reunion dinner
What happened to it
It is a café now, and sells a version of the coffee for four times the price. The tiles are original. The family went once, sat at the table by the door, and agreed not to say anything.
