Ruth Miller (1932–2019) ran the house at the farm on County Road 9 for fifty-five years, won the county fair pie ribbon more often than anyone thought fair, and canned everything that stood still. Her apple pie is the reason most of the family can make pastry.

Early life
The middle of five girls on a dairy farm two miles from the one she married into. She drove a tractor at eleven and was proud of it for the rest of her life.
Family
She married Walter Miller in 1951. Four children, a dozen grandchildren, and the quilt her mother made, which went on every new baby's bed for a year.
